Who Haunts the Ancient Ram Inn? | M.P. Pellicer

The Ancient Ram Inn is touted as one of Britain's most haunted establishments, sitting on land that dates back to the Bronze Age.

The Ancient Ram Inn is one of England’s oldest inns and can be found in the village of Wotton-Under-Edge in Gloucestershire. It is famed to have such terrifying ghosts that those trying to spend a whole night have fled through a closed window. Anecdotal evidence paints a dark and disturbing past of witchcraft, murder, torture, kidnap and satanic worship providing a source for the numerous spirits that are said to inhabit it.

The Strange Fate of the Cyclops | M.P. Pellicer

In a foreshadowing of things to come, in early March 1918, it was reported by the Navy that Willie J. Nettles, coxswain on the U.S.S. Cyclops was drowned on February 10, when he was swept overboard. His body was never recovered from the waters off Brazil.

Willie Nettles joined the Navy in 1913, when he was 16 years old. In July, 1915, his parents died within two weeks of each other, leaving only his married sister Maude as a relative. None would have suspected that his shipmates would soon share his fate.

The Curse of Fenn's Treasure | M.P. Pellicer

In 2010, Forrest Fenn (1930-2020) the owner of a gallery in Santa Fe, hid a bronze treasure chest that weighed 20 pounds and contained gold nuggets, rare coins, jewelry, and gemstones estimated to be worth $2 million. He wrote a book with hints as to where the treasure was hidden. The romance and adventure titillated treasure hunters to search New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming and Montana, however what many of them found was unusual and premature death.

THE BEGINNING
There were many that could not resist the siren's call of finding a treasure with a map in the form of a poem found in Fenn's memoirs The Thrill of the Chase (2010). But like many tales of easy fortunes, there's a down side, and it appeared that Fenn's Treasure didn't want to be found. Some would call it superstition, and others bad luck, but those who measure the odds considered it was cursed.

Forbidden Archaeology | Interview with Michael Cremo | Stories of the Supernatural

Michael Cremo is the author of "Forbidden Archeology: The Hidden History of the Human Race". This book shows that archaeologists and anthropologists, over the past one hundred and fifty years, have accumulated vast amounts of evidence showing that humans like ourselves have existed on this planet for tens of millions of years. We show how this evidence has been suppressed, ignored, and forgotten because it contradicts generally-held ideas about human evolution.

The Crazy House Up on the Hill | M.P. Pellicer

The cemetery is located off a dirt road on a wooded hillside. The grounds are overgrown, which seems to be the case even when the hospital was active. The cracked identical stones are marked only with an "M" or an "F", and a number. These numbers range through the hundreds to four full digits. These were the patients that died in the hospital that went unclaimed by their family.

Dixmont State Hospital, was founded in 1848 and began as the Insane Department of the Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Mary of Magdala | M.P. Pellicer

A small town in France is the destination of thousands of pilgrims every year. The faithful all come to pray before the reliquary of a saint that some say was Jesus' closest apostle, and possibly his wife.

There is a grotto in Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume, large enough to house a medieval basilica where the bones of St. Mary Magdalene are encased.

The Fate of the Grave Digger | M.P. Pellicer

Criminals are sometimes undone by their stupidity or desperation, but there are others who are discovered by sheer bad luck. Such is the case of a gravedigger named Jean Baptiste.

Utah, 1862
Four men were arrested, and two were sought in an assault upon John W. Dawson (1820-1877) the governor of Utah who had been nominated to the post by Abraham Lincoln. One of these men was named Moroni Clawson. Ironically three weeks before they had been hired to protect the governor until he reached the eastern boundary of the Utah territory, but then something changed.

An Honest Obituary | M.P. Pellicer

Many people like to think that as people head towards death, especially if they can foresee it, either through illness or age, they try to make amends or at least heal the wounds of those they hurt. But that is not always the case.

Old age is no guarantee of repentance or of regret, and it's a harsh reality for those who have been emotionally run over by an individual, waiting for the moment where they are offered an apology, or at least an understanding of the hurt they have caused. Even if their plea for forgiveness is not accepted, they make an attempt. But in truth there are people who have no remorse, and they are as unrepentant in old age as they were in their youth.

The Wreck of the S.S. Sapona and the Devil's Triangle | M.P. Pellicer

Over 100 years after it was commissioned as a war ship, what's left of the Sapona sits on the edge of the Bermuda Triangle, a silent witness to many eerie occurrences.

The S.S. Sapona (originally named the Old North State) was one of four ships manufactured for use in WWI by the United States. Their names were Sapona, Cape Fear, Faith and The Americas. There was a steel shortage, and the ships were made of concrete by the Emergency Fleet Corporation at Wilmington, however the war ended before they could be used as troop transport ships.

The Mystery of the Beeswax Shipwreck | M.P. Pellicer

A discovery of "ancient beeswax" found on the Oregonian coast at Nehalem was reported in the newspapers throughout the years. It was assumed it came from a wrecked vessel, that foundered on its way to a Catholic monastery in California. The wax was etched with Latin words.

During the 1800s, there were different theories where chunks of beeswax washing onshore were coming from. First it was assumed it might have come from the ship Peacock wrecked on the Nehalem Bay sandpit. It carried beeswax among its cargo, which was strewn along the beach. However William Savage a pioneer in the area during the 1840s, said the brig-of-war Peacock was wrecked at the mouth of Columbia River in 1842.

43 Years Worth of Murders | M.P. Pellicer

In 2014, Samuel Little was convicted of the murders of three women in Los Angeles. DNA had linked him to cold cases committed between 1987 to 1989. He received three life sentences. Authorities suspected he had probably committed other murders, but they never imagined what would be the final number once he decided to confess.

Samuel Little's birth name was Samuel McDowell. He said his mother, a teenage prostitute abandoned him, however police believe she gave birth to him while she was in jail. The 1940 census shows that his mother Bessie Mae Little worked as a maid, and his father was Paul McDowell, 19.

A House with a History of Murder | M.P. Pellicer

The house was built in 1918. It's derelict and crumbling now, built in the Neo-Classical Revival style with its fluted Ionic columns, it's not difficult to imagine how splendid it once looked. Even now it's seems the perfect setting for a southern gothic mystery.

Originally known as the Hardie-Coleman House, it's death that made it notorious as the Allan Lucy Murder House.
