Ghosts of the British Raj | M.P. Pellicer
In 1903, Colonel Barog, a British engineer made a mistake in the building of Tunnel No. 33 on the Kalka-Shimla train route. Subsequently he was fined for wasting government money and publicly reprimanded, which humiliated him deeply. He rode his horse to the dark entrance of the unfinished tunnel, and shot himself in sheer desperation near what now is the state government-run Barog Pine Wood Hotel. He has never left the place since.

The Lonely Ghost at St. Michael's Orphanage | M.P. Pellicer
The Belvedere Orphanage in Newfoundland was slated for demolition after it was damaged by fire in April, 2017. The question is: what happens to the spirits that are said to haunt this centuries-old orphanage, school and convent when it is repurposed as an apartment building?
NEWFOUNDLAND, CANADA
Hugh Alexander Emerson, a politician built a Second Empire style house in 1826. When Emerson's wife died in the 1840s he sold it to Bishop Michael Anthony Fleming (1792-1850). The bishop died within its walls, but he is not one of its purported ghosts. This house became part of the group of buildings that would include the Belvedere Orphanage.

Blue Ghost Tunnel | M.P. Pellicer
In 1876, an arched, stone tunnel was built under the Grand Trunk railroad tracks in Niagara Falls. So how did something built as a drainage passage become known as the "Screaming Tunnel" or the "Blue Ghost Tunnel"?
The Merritton Tunnel was completed in 1876, and opened in 1881. Using limestone, about 1,000 Irish immigrants worked on the project that spanned over 700 feet. Allowing traffic to cross the Welland Canal in St. Catherines, Ontario was the original purpose of the tunnel. The canal acted as a highway for boats travelling between Lake Erie and Lake Ontario.

Ghosts of South Florida | M.P. Pellicer
Over the years I have had several ghost stories sent anonymously to me, and it's these quaint and subtle stories of hauntings that I find so fascinating, because you realize that ghosts make their presence known in the most mundane of settings, and sometimes it's only in hindsight that we realize exactly what we were experiencing. I have excluded surnames and exact addresses in order to protect the privacy of families. The following are those stories:
Uncle Charles
My family owns an old home in rural Davie. The tiny home was hand-built by my great-uncle (via marriage) - a person I have never met. His name was Charles C. and he and his wife, Betty, lived there.
GHOSTS OF THE MAGIC CITY | M.P. Pellicer
Prickly skin, a feeling that you're being watched or there's someone standing right behind (when there isn't) and a drop in temperature are all the hallmarks of the unearthly.
In Miami there are certain places where you're more likely to have these encounters with the other side.
"It was a dark and stormy night", the overused trope of gothic novels and low-budget films, can cause one to overlook that amongst the humming of insects, and the stillness of sub-tropical humidity the spirits of those who don't lie easy in their grave make their presence known. The Magic City has its own sordid history of murder, suicides, violence and secret burials that can provide a cast of thousands that can cause a shiver down your spine even in 80 degree weather. These are some of those places.

Ghosts of South Florida: Abandoned Hospital and Biltmore Hotel | M.P. Pellicer
In North Miami off 441 at the Cloverleaf Interchange, where the Palmetto Expressway joins I-95 for over two decades a crumbling, graffitied building decayed while traffic whizzed below it. It was once a hospital, and it developed a reputation for being haunted.
Parkway Regional Hospital opened its doors in 1974, with enough room for 300 patients. There was a psych ward on the 7th floor, with a separate entrance for patients brought in due to a Baker Act.
There was a morgue in the basement.
As time passed the area became crime ridden, and the hospital closed in 2002. The empty building became more derelict as the years passed. It was demolished in July, 2023 after more than 20 years where, it stood untenanted, by the living that is.
