The Russian's Ghost | M.P. Pellicer

Mines, both mysterious and treacherous are believed by the men that work there to be haunted. Sometimes these apparitions try to give a warning of pending disaster, other times they lure the living to their doom. In Grant Town, West Virginia the Federal No. 1 mine operated from 1901 until 1985 and was said to be haunted by a Russian miner.

In Grant Town, West Virginia the Federal No. 1 mine was built by the Federal Coal and Coke Company, and immigrants came from across the world to make a living there. But death could be found as well, whether from an explosion or rockfalls. They brought their language, customs and ghost lore.

Dennis' Ghost | M.P. Pellicer

Abraham Lincoln is widely claimed to haunt the White House, but his cousin Dennis Friend Hanks (1799-1892), who lived with him in his childhood home in Indiana, was reputed to haunt the house he owned in Charleston, Illinois.

In 1965, Mr. and Mrs. Tycers moved into their newly-purchased, 14-room house largely to have a place for the antiques they had collected over the years.

The Spirit of Mr. Sherman | M.P. Pellicer

In November, 1873, Almon P. Sherman was general superintendent in the American Express Company in Buffalo, New York. He would be the last person would come back to haunt his wife a few months after his death.

It was a Monday and Mr. Sherman wasn't feeling well. He drove to see his physician, Dr. King. The doctor gave him a prescription and told him to go home as soon as possible. He made a stop at the drug store, and took a seat to wait for his order. Suddenly he dropped off the chair and died on the spot. It turned out a large blood vessel in his heart ruptured. He was known to suffer from angina pectoris.

The Cursed Women | M.P. Pellicer

Many of these creations on canvas are at times described by the artist as being inspired from something outside themselves. Are they portraits or portals?

THE RAIN WOMAN

Ukranian artist Svetlana Telets was a newly minted artist who graduated in 1996 from Grekov Odessa Art School. Then she started to suffer nightmares and the feeling of being watched, by someone or something. The spell she had endured for six months was broken one day, when she took her paintbrush and produced the painting The Rain Woman in only 5 hours. She had never seen this subject before.

Death Visits the Alkimos | M.P. Pellicer

The Alkimos was a merchant ship, one of many that wrecked off the coast of Western Australia in 1963. What sets it apart are the persistent stories that it's a cursed ship.

Built in a Baltimore shipyard, misfortune seemed to have visited early on when it was said a welder was unintentionally riveted up inside the hull, and found a day later, after he had suffocated. There is another version, where it was several workers who were sealed inside its walls. Supposedly this occurred due to the tight deadline and hurried construction of the ship, which was one of over 2,500 being produced for the war effort.
