The story follows Abel Keane, a divinity student in Boston, Massachusetts, who has some experience as a stage hypnotist and has taught himself psychic abilities, including telepathy. One night, Keane returns to his apartment and encounters a mysterious entity.

"The Sandwin Compact" is a novelette written by August Derleth, first published in Weird Tales in November 1940. The story is narrated by Dave, who spends summers at his uncle Asa's house. Uncle Asa exhibits unusual behavior, such as responding oddly to the call of a sea-bird, which Eldon reveals was not a bird at all but something else communicating with Asa. Dave experiences strange dreams and finds the house smelling of fish and with phantom footsteps and vocal sounds. Upon investigating, they find Uncle Asa arguing with something that croaks in an unknown language and the room dripping and wet, leading to Uncle Asa's confession that the Sandwin family has been selling off its oldest sons to Cthulhuoid hordes for generations to maintain their wealth.

"Something in Wood" is a short story by August Derleth that was first published in the March 1948 issue of Weird Tales. The story revolves around Jason Wecter, an art critic and collector of weird and macabre artwork, who wishes to obtain a wooden bas-relief that would complement his collection. His friend Pinckney finds a dark and heavy wooden sculpture of an octopoid creature in a second-hand shop in Portland, Maine, and purchases it as a gift for Wecter. The inscription on the base of the sculpture is in an unidentified language and reads: "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn".

A Tale of Jealousy and Witchcraft | M.P. Pellicer

A man is induced by his wife to strangle her sister, and is in turn put to death in a horrible manner, or so it was rumored.

In October, 1902 The San Francisco Examiner wrote about a remarkable story of "savage superstition". It read like the tales of torture and Indian justice related in James Fennimore Cooper's Indian stories. It came to light among the Mojave Indians who lived along the Colorado River in Arizona about an incident of love, jealousy, superstition, murder and finally a terrible death to the offending Indian. It all combined to make a story of unusual interest and cruelty, astonishing even with those familiar with the tragedies of the mountain and desert in the great Southwest.

Fat Tuesday, is a long-standing tradition of the Catholic Church and it marks the last day of before the start of Lent, a time of fasting and repentance. There are two ghosts that are well known to haunt Hampton Court. They were both English Queens and wives of Henry VIII. One is Jane Seymour who died shortly after giving birth to Prince Edward, and the other is the shrieking ghost of Catherine Howard executed for adultery. However there is another who finds no peace, and her only downfall was loyalty to the royal family.

Hampton Court was once the property of Cardinal Wolsey. Henry VIII who took Hampton Court from Wolsey was believed to have peopled the place with its many ghosts.

In July 1945, the battle of Okinawa took place, leaving over 200,000 dead, among them over one-third of civilians who lived on the island. Okinawans had been forced to commit suicide by the Japanese military or be executed. Lawlessness was rampant on the island and refugees lived in the hills. A month later atomic bombs would fall on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and amid this turmoil the disappearance of three young Marines was barely noticed.

Their names were James D. Robinson (Savannah, Ga.), John M. Smith (Cincinnati), and Isaac Stokes (Chicago). Initially they were listed by military as deserters and then they were declared missing in action. They were all 19 years old.

Early in the 19th century, the railroad was the only way to travel throughout the United States and where goods were shipped to different destination points. Many times the depots were on the outskirts of town, which became the seedier area known as the tenderloin. Saloons and brothels were close by and the poor often lived in the area since it was the only place they could afford. Such was the story of a poor woman who lived in a shanty in Harper's Ferry in West Virginia. Her name was Jenny. Is there any truth to the story of the unfortunate Jenny?

Harper's Ferry is tucked between rugged mountain ridges where the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers meet. In 1794, President Washington asked Congress to establish a federal armory which consisted of 20 buildings along the south bank of the Potomac.

Let's have a hot-tub time moment and return to 1947. In July, a crash is reported of an alien craft in Roswell, New Mexico and alien bodies are taken to Roswell Air Field hospital. It was rumored that one of the ETs was still alive at the crash site, and then died at the hospital. The wreckage and the remains were held at Hangar 84 a former B-29 hangar located on East Enterprise Ave, until being shipped to different destinations. One of them was the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio and its notorious "Hangar 18".
